I received my brave box in 2009 from KWC, but it wasn’t just a box, it was a sense of hope and a cure to my loneliness of thinking I was alone in this new diagnosis. I have a family that encouraged me from the start to do everything I possibly could to help educate, fundraise and spread awareness about Type 1 diabetes. I was able to reconnect with Kids With Courage when I found them to become a beneficiary to my local softball tournament, Dylan’s Army charity tournament. Being able to help KWC is an absolute dream and privilege knowing how much a Brave Box can support a family with a new lifelong battle.
What I do at Kids With Courage:
I have been lucky enough to be the leader of the ambassadors. I get to plan out what the kids’ roles will be during the gala and help them implement their very own ideas. These ambassadors are the face of our One Inspired Evening and I try my best to get them as involved as possible! I am also just someone who is there to help wherever I can.
What I like most about being involved with KWC:
The thing I like most about being involved in KWC is knowing how much these Brave Boxes mean to these kids. Imagine being diagnosed with a disease that you have never heard of and that you did nothing wrong to deserve. This box not only makes a kid feel less alone but it gives their whole family hope that they can get through the tough road ahead. I have been able to watch the reactions from these boxes and hear from others how impactful they are.
If I could meet one person from the past or present, who would it be and why?
Definitely Travis Kelce. I have loved him since we drafted him. What’s not to love about him?
Place I would love to travel:
One of my dream destinations to travel to is Iceland. I think the scenery is incredible and seeing the northern lights is definitely on my bucket list.
What are your hobbies?
I love sports, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
Many people would be surprised if they knew?
I’ve competed in 5 different sports and founded the Dylan’s Army charity youth softball tournament!
