Julie met the Kids with Courage team at an event in 2014. Being a Type 1 Diabetic for almost 15 as well as founding Type 1 Diabetics University gives Julie a true passion for wanting to interact and bond with other T1Ds. When Julie went into high school and college she did not have many older T1Ds that she could reach out to, therefore she would like to help those in that situation. Kids with Courage is a great organization for not only the kids, but the parents/families as well, and Julie is eager and excited to be a part of it all! She hopes to help other T1Ds, especially through those teenage and college years so they can grow into successful T1D adults.
What I do at Kids With Courage: KWC Board of Directors and T1 Liaison
What I like most about being involved with KWC: I love helping fellow T1Ds see that diabetes is just a bump in the road and ANYTHING is still possible.
If I could meet one person from the past or present, who would it be and why? Ellen Degeneres because she seems to have a love for life, laughter and kindness.
Place I would love to travel: Thailand
What are your hobbies? I enjoy cooking, playing any kind of sport, and anything fitness related! I LOVE spoiling my fur babies rotten too.
Many people would be surprised if they knew I… I never wore my pump outside of my pocket until I was a camp counselor one year when I was in high school! Now she’s just lucky if she doesn’t get caught in a door handle because her tube has a mind of her own.
