Cyndy Cohoon first learned of the Kids With Courage Foundation and it’s mission when she moved to Kansas City for a new job as a Diabetes Educator at Children’s Mercy Hospital.  Cyndy came from a job as a Certified Diabetes Educator at Dayton Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.  Cyndy is an RN, Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified Insulin Pump Trainer and has a BS in Healthcare Administration.  As Cyndy says, “It was love at first crate.”  She had not seen anything like what Kids With Courage was doing, loved the concept and message and knew she had to be part of it.  Cyndy contacted KWC with an offer to help and as she says, “the rest is history.”  Cyndy is instrumental in making Education Classes and Workshops available to the Type 1 community.  KWC is fortunate to have someone like Cyndy on board.  She is an outstanding Educator, whose professionalism and passion for teaching come shining thru when she is sharing her expertise and knowledge of Type 1.

What I do at Kids With Courage:
I am on the board for Kids With Courage. I help with the educational programs that KWC sponsors several times per year. As a diabetes educator at Children’s Mercy it is also my privilege to deliver Brave Boxes to newly diagnosed children. I also pitch in where needed for outreach programs and the big Gala event each year.

What I like most about being involved with KWC:
The Ah-ha moments kids and families share when they either “get it” or find others that are just like them.

If I could meet one person from the past or present, who would it be and why?
Katherine Hepburn. I like her as a representative of strong women!

Place I would love to travel:
China

What are your hobbies?
I have been known to collect all sorts of old things and I love to garden as well as read and be a grandparent.

Many people would be surprised if they knew?
I am an open book, no surprises here.
